You'll Never Guess Where This Guy Went To Get Away From It All

BoredPanda user Matt is just an average man, from an average French town. He also loves to travel. That's how he ended up volunteering at a Wolf Sanctuary in Russia.

Yeah. You read right. A Wolf Sanctuary. In Russia. Even though he spoke no Russian and didn't have much of a background with animals.

The Sanctuary is twenty five miles from the nearest village, deep in the Russian wilderness. There's no internet, no tv, and loads of mosquitos.

Every day he went to visit Mama Wolf, which involved a two hour walk into the forest. Matt had to be sure to make a lot of noise, to scare away any bears. You know, big, terrifying, Leo DiCaprio-mauling bears.

He would feed the Mama Wolf, who had been around humans for so long she still needed human interaction.

Some nights he would stay at the cabin, some nights he would stay in a hut at the fence that seperated Wolf land from the human living quarters. He would listen to the wolves howl at night.

The most rewarding part of the job? Taking care of the pups.
