Eizaburo Ueno, a professor at Tokyo University, loved his dog, Hachiko, like no other. Everyday, Hachiko would walk with Ueno to the train station and meet him when he'd return after work. On May 21, 1925, his owner suffered a hemorrhage and died. Hachiko heartbreakingly spent the rest of his life coming to the station on time everyday to wait for his owner to come back.
One woman had been a patient of this hospital for about a year before she passed, but her dog Masha would come visit every day for over two years since. Her owner's family tried adopting Masha, but she'd always escape to come back to the hospital. The hospital staff now makes sure she is cared for.
Jack the black retriever saved a small boy drowning in the River Tawe during the 1930s, but that's not all... Within a few weeks, Jack rescued another swimmer, this time with witnesses in attendance. And then more and more. Over the course of the next decade, Jack was reported to have saved at least 27 people from this dangerous river. The Mayor of London awarded him a silver collar for being the "Bravest Dog of the Year."
