Ashley Yates is a 30 year old design and construction expert from Bedford, England. Ashley recently had a tree removed from his back yard. He decided to use the space for something extraordinary.

2

Ashley is a fan of the Lord of the Rings and decided to use the space for a mini Hobbit hole reading nook. The process started with the projects structure.

3

Next was waterproofing. Ashley writes, "The base concreted with waterproofer and finished with further waterproofing and finally a levelling compound so there was a lovely clean finish inside".

4

They even added a mowable real grass roof.

5

The interior was next. They went for a Hobbitlike home feel. We think they pulled it off.

6

When building something that is even partially underground ventilation is key.

7

A bookshelf was even installed. Plenty of room for some Tolkien classics.

8

All that is missing is a little Hobbit!
