This Son Was Trapped In A Coma For Years, When He Was Finally Able To Communicate Again He Revealed A Tragic Secret

Martin Pistorius was a normal child growing up in South Africa when tragedy struck

Martin became sick. And then he became sicker. Martin's parents took him to doctors and specialists but no one knew what was going on. Martin continued to deteriorate until he was uncommunicative and wheel chair bound

After a year Martin couldn't speak or move alone. He was declared to be in a Permanent Vegetative State (kind of like a Coma) and he stayed that way fro years. Martin doesn't remember many of those years, but at Sixteen he says, he woke up. He still couldn't communicate or move, but he was aware of everything that was going on.

Martin's mother became so distraught about her son she tried to end her own life, but was rushed to the hospital just in time. She couldn't spend time around him, so Martin had a full time carer. It was his carer who noticed that Martin would blink and make facial expressions when prompted. Martin was trying to communicate.

Martin was sent to a neurological rehab facility where he learned to speak via a computer, regained much movement and even learned to drive a car! Martin has since attended College, got a job and got married! He spent so long invisible in plain sight and wanting to tell his parents that he had been there the whole time!
