Each year, Oxford Dictionaries picks a word that they feel summarizes everything that happened within those 365 days. This year 😂 was picked.

This Minecraft screenshot comes from an in-game tutorial designed to teach players to make the emoji correctly - A testament to the impact that emoji's have made culturally.

This choice (bare with us) actually makes some sense. Seen by this graph, emoji use has seen a huge spike in popularity within the past year:

2015 was the year of the emoji's.

This year we have seen emoji's used in political and advertising campaigns by big players.

Domino's also has the option of ordering your favorite pizza online with nothing more than the pizza emoji.
