Staunton Way from Havant to Rowlands Castle (4.15 miles)

From the Staunton Country Park, this route brushes the outskirts of Havant before turning northwards along Prospect Lane to Rowlands Castle.
Along the way you will pass the remains of a 12th century motte-and-bailey castle and walk through the local golf course.
The path then follows back to the country park where you can enjoy refreshments in the cafe or enjoy the walled garden grounds.

2

Bishop's Waltham nature walk (3 miles)

This circular walk starts in the attractive market town of Bishop's Waltham, before visiting local nature reserves managed by Hampshire County Council as well as land owned by the Woodland Trust and he Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
From the central car park you pass by Sand Boils, a source of the River Hamble, and can catch views of the Isle of Wight.

3

A Hamble Stroll (2 miles)

This route takes you around a village that has played a significant role in the country's aviation and maritime history, while there are few places in Britain that over the centuries can boast to have had a priory, a Norman church and a castle.
You will walk along the Hamble foreshore - with a good number of pubs and restaurants to stop off at - and pass by the marina, home to one of the country's leading yacht centres.

4

Whitehill and Liphook (4 miles)

The area around Whitehill has a rich and diverse history - hunters and gatherers from the Middle Stone Age period have left behind flint tools, and the Romans have left the remains of a road from Chichester to Silchester.
Starting at the Deer's Hut in Liphook, this route initially takes a steep incline, but rest assured there are spectacular views at the top.
As you reach the top of the hill you can see beyond into Sussex - in August and September the heather also forms a purple carpet.

5

The Solent Way (60 miles)

This coastal walking route starts at the seaside town of Milford-on-Sea, going past the hustle and bustle of seafronts, quiet yachting harbours and deserted marshland to reach Emsworth Harbour.
To help walkers the route is divided into eight sections, of which include castles and forts to explore, and ships, submarines and museums to visit.
While breathing in the smell of the sea on your way, there are also rare species to look out for including the starlet sea anemone.

6

South Downs Way (around 100 miles)

This popular stroll stretches for around 100 miles from historic Winchester to the coastal resort of Eastbourne.
Along your way you can gaze out across the English Channel while enjoying endless forests, fields and villages. The route is also said to be Britain's oldest long distance bridleway.
Included in the route are Clanfield, Exton and Amerberley- all within driving distance from Portsmouth.
