No one likes having to make an insurance claim because of all the paperwork involved and having to explain the incident and how it happened. But if there is big money involved, they might take the time to come up with some story. Well, truth is in the details, as you’ll see. Snakes everywhere

A family in Texas got a slimy surprise when a rattlesnake popped its head up from out of their toilet. Somehow it had gotten inside the pipes and worked its way through until it found an opening. Snakes love cool, dark places and had made a nest under the home around the piping. In total, 23 snakes were removed from under the home.

Car trouble

The owner of a 1971 Jaguar E-Type noticed his car wasn’t performing at its usual precision standards. After starting the car and driving a short way, the engine began to overheat and the car came to a dead stop. The car was then towed to a mechanic’s shop where the mechanic discovered a snake wrapped around the drive-belt pulleys, that had caused the belt to slip off and the car to overheat.

Don't mess with goats

A man driving a fancy red sports car came face to face with an angry goat when he attempted to herd them out of the road by honking his horn. The goat jumped up on his car and started headbutting his driver’s side door. Luckily, he had insurance coverage but imagine the look on the adjuster’s face when he said “a goat did it”.

Video game gone wrong

Interactive TV is wonderful, but a couple of brothers didn’t think so when one of them, while playing a video game, launched a speeding fastball that turned out to be his controller toward the families 60” smart TV. The $1.1K claim was denied when the cause of the broken television was discovered. Hint: those wrist straps are there for a reason!

During a moving speech about overcoming fear, a motivational speaker convinced a man from the audience to break a board with his hand. Well, he broke the board and his hand. The speaker had to call his insurance company to file a claim due to his bad judgment.

The cake incident

Skyler, a family dog who loves cake, decided to help himself to a piece of birthday cake from the family's 1-year old’s birthday party. The cake sat on top of the stove burner and the dog accidentally turned it on while trying to get the piece of cake to his mouth. Luckily, no one was injured as a result of this treat napping, but he did set the cake on fire.

A lady claimed she accidentally poured her bottle of herbal essences shampoo in the gas tank of her car instead of gas. Unfortunately, she is not the only one to ever make this claim. It makes you wonder what else they accidentally do…

The case of the flying kangaroo

Auto accidents are often caused by animals running into the road. One driver in Australia was hit by a Kangaroo who flew through his windshield and knocked him out. When he regained consciousness, the kangaroo was sitting in the driver seat. You can imagine how the conversation went while explaining the accident to the local authorities.

Angry camel

Speaking of animal-related claims, another man in Australia made a claim when a camel kicked his car door and left a dent. Fortunately for him, the event was recorded on video because he felt no one would ever believe that a camel totaled his car.

Potayto, potahto

A man claimed he lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a ditch after seeing a man dressed as a potato run out of a nearby field into the road. He was passing a farm at the time and said he was surprised by the man in the potato suit.

Dude, where's your phone?

A farmer made a claim for a lost iPhone, which he said had been lost while assisting one of his cows during calving time. He was using the phone for a light because it was late at night and dark inside the stall. The phone turned up later but no longer worked.

Gone with the sand

Two kids buried their parent’s video camera in the sand while making a sandcastle on vacation. Because of all the sand, they were unable to find the camera later.

Car damaged by a cow? A fisherman discovered a herd of cows licking and chewing on parts of his car. The man had just come back from a fishing trip on the coast and the sea air from the car attracted the cows like a salt lick.

Did you know horses like the smell of bananas? A hunter in Missouri made this amazing discovery after he polished his 4WD pickup truck with a carnauba car wax and found a group of horses licking his truck. Upon inspection, he noticed his truck was covered in bite marks. Apparently, Carnauba car wax smells like bananas, and horses like it.

Of mice and men

After coming home from a long vacation in Greece, a couple discovered that the power had gone out and the contents of their freezer had spoiled in the heat. Some liquid contents spilled out and dripped down onto the floor of their garage where it became food for vermin. The couple had to pay for an exterminator to get rid of the mice.

Disappointed skier

A woman filed a claim on her travel insurance because she bought a brand new pair of expensive skis for her skiing trip and when she got there, there was hardly any snow. It had all melted.

A fraudulent scheme that backfired. A claimant said his 30-foot long boat was stolen from his garage. The garage was only 24 feet long. His claim was denied and he was fined for filing a false claim.

A goose swallowed a lady’s diamond ring. She tried for weeks to get it back, following the goose and searching its droppings, but the ring never turned up. Eventually, the goose flew away. Probably heading south for the winter.

Famous people often insure their body parts in the event that they can no longer earn an income. Betty Grable, Keith Richards, and Bruce Springsteen are a few celebrities that have ensured parts of their bodies. Taking that to heart, a food critic decided to insure his taste buds for $400K. Looks like he takes his career very seriously.

Art is subjective. One woman learned this valuable lesson when her dog accidentally stuck his tail in a can of paint and happily wagged his tail all over the house. Hope it was a color she liked.
