The Great Escape

It's deservedly the most famous motorcycle chase in movie history.

2

The Matrix Reloaded

In what is surely one of the most elaborate motorbike sequences ever created. Trinity begins this scene by driving a Ducatti 996 off the front of a moving lorry. The scene took almost three months to film, coincidentally that's shorter than the entire filming time for some smaller films.

The Dark Knight

It is somewhat debatable whether this counts as a motorbike clip or not. Technically speaking, the Bat Pod is a motorbike, since it has two wheels. But many claim that it isn't, saying that the fact the wheels rotate means it can't be classed as a motorbike. Either way what can be said is how epic this scene is.

4

TRON: Legacy

TRON returned to our screens in 2010, almost 30 years after the original was released. Audiences around the world were blown away with CGI and use of special effects, and this scene in particular drew praise from fans and critics alike. The first scene of TRON, with Sam Flynn driving in the real world, features black Ducati Sport Classic 1000. Producers originally intended to use a Ducati Monster, but decided the Sport Classic was more recognisable.

Mission Impossible 5

This clip from the Mission Impossible 5 film, featuring Tom Cruise on a BMW S1000RR, is possibly the best bike movie chase ever.

6

Black Rain

This motorcycle chase manages to combine a little bit of everything: fighting, friction burns, and some pretty slick riding skills. The dirt bikes used in this scene were Suzuki RH 125s (yes, we know the engine sound is wrong).

7

The Bourne Legacy

Featuring Jeremy Renner as Jason Bourne 2.0, this film features a couple of really brilliant motorcycle chases. This chase has everything you could possibly want in a feature length film, rolled into about 3 minutes of action. When he was asked about his most difficult scene, Jeremy Renner revealed that it was this one, because he was responsible for both him and Rachel Weisz, and ultimately had her life in his hands.

8

Tomorrow Never Dies

This has to be one of the longest bike chases in film history. Again though, it contains all sorts of action moments, culminating in Pierce Brosnan taking down a helicopter with a bit of rope. The scene right at the start where both Bond and Wai-lin fight over the motorcycle was created by the director pulling each actor aside individually - and telling them not to let the other person into the driver's seat.

9

Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave

The motorbike chase between Wallace and Gromit in their motorbike and sidecar, and Preston in the lorry. The motorcycle used by Wallace and Gromit is a 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub which was not normally used with a sidecar. To commemorate the film, a full sized model of the duo in their vehicle was on display near Triumph's old factory in Meriden.

Armour of God 2: Operation Condor

This clip from Operation Condor shows off not just Jackie Chan's ability to save babies from the certain death, but also contains some amazing motorbike stunts. Riding over the roof of 3 of the chasing cars is the personal highlight for me. The whole scene was actually written and choreographed by Jackie Chan himself, working closely alongside Remy Julienne (who was the stuntman for multiple Bond chase scenes and the Italian Job chase to name but a few).
