However, if you are among the brave who have decided to endure the poor road quality, hear us out. Just as you are responsible for the safety of your car, you are also responsible for the safety of others. Therefore, after purchasing a car, your next purchase should be a car insurance.
We do not say it loosely we mean business. It is required by law for all those who own a car have to own a valid motor insurance. In order to protect yourself and others on the rough roads, you can purchase a third party car insurance. This policy aims at protecting any third party damages that you might have causes. This insurance policy has different clauses for private cars and commercial vehicles.
Third party insurance – Private Vehicle
This insurance policy will cover you from the legal liability from the damage you caused to a third party. This can include bodily injury, death and damage to third party property.
The third party vehicle insurance will include the following:
· Death or bodily injury to the third party
· Damage to third party property
· Accidental Death of the insured vehicle owner or driver of the car
· Permanent total disability of the insurance vehicle owner or driver of the car
The policy also has certain exclusions such as:
· Accidents caused while the driver was drinking and driving
· If the car is being driven by an underage person, a person without license, or one driving on the wrong side of the road.
· Driving for commercial reasons even though it is a private vehicle
· Deliberate accidents are not covered
· Regular wear and tear, expiration of the policy, diving outside geographical limits.
Third Party Insurance – Commercial Vehicle
If you own a car for commercial purposes, then the third party insurance coverage and exclusion will be the same as that for a private vehicle. However, some companies offer a “liability only” option for commercial vehicles across all types of vehicles such as two wheelers, private cars, passenger carrying vehicles, goods carrying vehicles etc.
Although it is a mandatory policy that you need to purchase when you buy a new car, it is also your duty as a responsible citizen to be mindful of your road discipline.
