STORY: Comicpalooza returns with the 'Mother of all Weekends'

Comicpalooza 2019 was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center the weekend of May 10-12. The comic con brought celebrities such as Emilia Clarke and Nathalie Emmanuel of HBO's "Game of Thrones" to Houston for the first time.

DAY ONE: May 10

The first day of Comicpalooza 2019 consisted of various panels, exploring the exhibit hall and concluding with celebrity karaoke.

Throughout the weekend, ESPN hosted the Collegiate Esports Championship (ECE). The tournament featured winners who competed across the country in the Collegiate Star League. Winning teams of the ECE were awarded scholarships for their respective institutions.

In honor of NASA's 50th anniversary since the U.S' first moon landing, various NASA panels and exhibits were featured throughout the weekend.

On Friday and Saturday night, Ming Chen hosted Celebrity Karaoke. Songs performed included "Sweet Caroline," "It's My Life," and "Part of Your World." To watch clips from Friday night's event, check out @TheSignalCAST on Twitter.

DAY TWO: May 11

The "Mother of all Weekends" reached a high with the arrival of Emilia Clarke and Nathalie Emmanuel from "Game of Thrones." The day consisted of celebrity panels, cosplay competition and live podcast recordings.

For the first time since the season 8 premiere, actresses Emilia Clarke and Nathalie Emmanuel reunite. The stars of "Game of Thrones" answered questions from moderator Courtney Zavala of "Houston Life."

The Houston Outlaws hosted a weekend-long tournament for gamers interested in Overwatch. The final round took place Sunday, May 12.

In the ballroom of the George R. Brown, various table top games were made available to be played. Games included classics such as Dungeons and Dragons and lesser known games like Tavern Masters.

After the exhibit hall closed, an art auction took place with artists creating works to be bid on. Outside of the convention center, Swedish electropop duo Icona Pop performed.

DAY THREE: May 12

The final day, which also fell on Mother's Day, featured panels and the final day of exploring the exhibit hall full of vendors and creatives.

Vendors, such as Dark Brain Matter, recreate some of the props and toys featured in TV shows and movies.

Panels featured throughout the weekend consisted of unique takes on pop culture products. This included a Shakespearian reading of "The Empire Strikes Back."

Each year, Comicpalooza brings together cosplayers from a wide range of fandoms. On the second floor of the exhibit hall, last year's cosplay costume winners were placed on display.
