Ambulance crews were called to the scene inside the Gandhi restaurant on Hollow Lane, South Hayling, in Hayling Island, at around 1am on Saturday.
A 65-year-old man was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital but died later at shortly before 10am.
Three men, 32, 34 and 37 were arrested on suspicion of murder.
On Sunday police said all three have since been released but remain under investigation.
The 65-year-old died from a head injury, a post mortem has revealed.
Diners at the Gandhi restaurant, which is advertised as shutting around midnight, have already come forward to police but officers want to speak to anyone else who went there on Friday night.

The 54-year-old said: 'This is normally a very quiet place. It's so unusual to hear of something as shocking as this happening here. It's not good at all.'

Christine Fellerman, 84, lives just round the corner in nearby Chichester Avenue.

She said: 'I can't understand it. Hayling Island is the sort of place that suits the elderly because it's so quiet. It's so unusual to hear of something like this.

'That restaurant has always been lovely - I've been associated with it since me and my late husband moved on to the Island in 1981. I'm amazed.'
