Pet Sematary
This Stephen King classic is one of the scariest books ever written. The tale of a man driven mad by the loss of his son and the desperate attempt to resurrect him has haunted parents for an entire generation now. First as a book and then as a movie. The story surrounds a Mic Mac Indian burial bround in Maine where the ground went sour. The people and animals buried in that place come back ... But sometimes “dead is better.” Shiver.
Amityville Horror
This is the most well-known of the haunted house movies. And it is also a true story. According to the story, the Indians sent their crazy people to this land to die. The bad spirits there caused the first murders in the house and eventually led to the haunting of the new family who moved in.
Poltergeist
Though this movie is well known for being the “Indian burial ground movie,” the irony is there never really was one. The house that features in the movie, the cursed home that drives the family insane and takes their youngest child, was built as part of a subdivision on top of a regular cemetery. No vengeance included. But the trope persisted anyway. And the truth is, either way, nothing should be built where the dead are resting.
The Shining
This is another Stephen King classic that has been made into two movies. It tells the story of a hotel so haunted and sinister, anyone who stays too long goes completely mad. The hotel was built, on what else, an Indian burial ground in Colorado. And no one is safe from the anger that arises.
