The Complete History of gCircuit

From its humble beginnings to becoming Asia's biggest gay dance festival, we cover gCircuit's growth from 3,000 to 28,000 party goers. Yeah it's true, everything gets better with practice and gCircuit has been crafting their trade for 10 years. We wanted to look back over the years to see the milestones of the legendary Songkran party and the team who have built the only Asian gay circuit brand.

The story of gCircuit is pretty simple, they always strive to do better! Guess these guys could host the biggest event in the world and they would still finds ways to improve. The 10th year of gCircuit was an incredible spectacle, by far the biggest event gCircuit has ever hosted and also the biggest gay circuit party Asia has ever seen.

Each year gCircuit add something new and in 2016 it was the Glam Gala event. A glitzy glamorous charity dinner complete with black tie. Imagine all the hottest guys, famous from Instagram, all in one room, dressed in every imaginable brand of designer suit. Not only was the ball worthy of Cinderella, it was for a good cause raising 1.5 million baht ($42,000 USD), which was donated to Thai Aids Society and the Poz Home.

Since the early days gCircuit has featured Asia's hottest go-go boys but 2015 was for sure the year of dancer perfection. With 20 choreographed performances and over 160 outfits the production team are busy for months prepping. Over the years, gCircuit has become the highlight of the go-go calendar, if such a thing exists.

For SK8 they really did supersize everything. Taking it to the next level, size doubled, venue was bigger and the second boy pool party was added. Not only was the event beefed up, so was the pre-party marketing. The 2014 gCircuit promo video killed it with their viral video trailer. Come on, let's be real who hasn't had a fantasy around this.

Gays love to dress up and gCircuit's themes are the perfect opportunity to wear not much and still get creative but there is a lot more going on than just an outfit change. While the rest of us are recovering, the production team are rearranging the entire venue. Has anybody noticed when you come back the following day, the stage has actually moved across the room?

13,000 guys over 4 parties

Introducing everybody's favorite... The Pool Party. What began as only one party quickly rolled into three pool parties, one for Bears and two for the Boys. Every year pool party tickets are the first to sell out and it's no surprise why. We say it's because of the BKK heat but really we just want to check everybody out!

10,000 guys for 3 nights

gCircuit fans take their dedication to the next level. Guys travel in teams from all over Asia and beyond. Once in Bangkok they reunite with old friends, last years ‘loves’ and new ‘friends’. gCircuit has helped to build the foundation of the gay Asia community. Seriously, how many people have friends in random cities purely because we met at gCircuit.

7,000 guys for 3 nights

From SK4 onwards gCircuit start to focus on Songkran as the highlight of the year and it’s hardly surprising why. Songkran is simply gay paradise, it’s the world’s largest water fight. Huge parts of the city are shut down, Silom, Bangkok’s gay village, turns into every twink’s wet dream.

However just one week before SK4, Bangkok descended into chaos with major street protested taking over the city. Central World the venue for SK4 was destroyed by fire started during the protests.

Only days before the event a new venue was found. Nerves were running high, for the gCircuit team, when 11 pm came on first night of SK4 and it was nearly empty. Thankfully by 12 pm the crowds turned up and by 1 am the venue was packed to bursting. It’s fair to say nothing will stop the gays from partying, not even a city in chaos.

6,000 guys for SK3 + Fantasia on Koh Samui for 2 nights

Back in the early days, gCircuit was hosting many events across the year both inside Bangkok and around Thailand. As well as SK3 in 2009, gCircuit hosted Samui Fantasia festival on Koh Samui. Taking over beachfront luxury hotels and turning them into wild events for the weekend. Actually, this does sound like a great idea, please bring this back one year! gCircuit on KOH SAMET, let’s make it happen!

OK, so it was like 9 years ago but this video just proves how much of an institution gCircuit is. The Fallabella water party at SK2 – SK6 helped kick start the brand internationally. Pushing for bigger and bolder events is how they have turned from a total of 3,000 guys to 28,000 party goers. #MoreThanJustaParty

3000 Guys for 2 nights

Building a brand from the ground up isn’t simple. Since the start Tom and Oui have been driving gCircuit forward. It was love at first sight for the two party boys who met 17 years ago in Bangkok. Within a month the two had moved to New York together and spent two years partying hard in the city’s iconic clubs, Roxy and Limelight. This inspired the gCircuit founders to bring a new level to the nightlife of gay Asia and gCircuit was born.

It’s because of these guys that it all happened. Thank you for 10 years of fun.. It’s safe to say we are all looking forward to 10 more years!
