Dan Stevens as David Haller

David Haller is not what you would think of as a normal Marvel superhero. He has a history of mental illness and has been in and out of the mental hospital since he was a teen when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. What if the voices he hears in his head are not from a mental illness but cause by the fact that he might be a mutant? What if the visions he sees are real messages? There are those out there who want to know what they are. David happens to be the son of Charles Xavier (aka Professor X, who created the X-Men) and Gabrielle Haller (an Israeli holocaust survivor). This character first appeared in Marvel's New Mutants comic book #25 in March 1985.

David is friends with Lenny at the mental hospital. They both took notice when Syd arrived. It didn't take long for David to ask her to be his girlfriend, but her one condition is he can't touch her. This is such a cute romance and shows that there is hope in even the unlikeliest of places!

2

Rachel Keller as Syd Barrett

Syd has to wear gloves as she can't touch anyone. When she does, things become explosive! When she and David kissed, things turned upside down and they switched places for a time. She loves David and worked with Melanie Bird's team to help rescue him from certain death.

Hollywood Reporter stated, "Keller will play Syd, a self-sufficient and street smart woman who uses her sharp and prickly demeanor to protect her soft core because even though it makes her a sucker and puts her at risk, she still believes in happily ever after. Her character is rumored to be a mix of Rogue and Spyke."

3

Aubrey Plaza as Lenny Busker

Lenny Busker is David's best friend in the mental hospital. It was mentioned that someone in the show would be in a wheelchair. This was thought to be a nod to the fact that David's father is Professor X, but a wheelchair is her mode of choice even though she can walk. She loves music and Twizzlers. She is a smart aleck and is now a character in David's mind who warns him of things to come...

4

Katie Aselton as Amy Haller

Amy is David's older sister. She is understandably worried about him and his sanity. She deeply cares for him and wants him to be well. She welcomes him into her home when the hospital lets him go. Later, her life will be in danger as the people who want to find David will hold her against her will to entice David to give himself up to save his sister.

5

Jean Smart as Melanie Bird

From the Hollywood Reporter, "Smart is Melanie, a nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods." Melanie Bird has a team hard on the case to save David from certain death. She rescues him and gives him the choice to become better under her tutelage. She wants David to learn how to not only use his powers, but how to control them. Time will tell if she is planning to use David for something greater.

6

Bill Irwin as Cary Loudermilk

Cary Loudermilk appears to be a scientist that works for Melanie Bird. He helps run tests on David to see how his powers can be controlled. He also might be Kerry Loudermilk's Dad. We will learn more about him in Chapter two.

7

Amber Midthunder as Kerry Loudermilk

Kerry Loudermilk was seen with her partner Ptonomy Wallace trying to apprehend David Haller. For awhile, you couldn't tell if she was on the good side or bad, but later we find out she works for Melanie Bird. Melanie helped to save David from being killed, so for now we will believe they are the good guys! She has the same last name as Cary Loudermilk, so maybe he is her Dad? This has not been revealed yet...

8

Jeremie Harris as Ptonomy Wallace

Not exactly sure how to pronounce his name Ptonomy. I think the 'P' is not silent. He is a very cool character! He is classically dressed and looks like he could be a bad guy as he is trying to apprehend David, but later you find out it is to save his life. His partner is Kerry Loudermilk and they work for Melanie Bird.

9

Hamish Linklater as The Interrogator; And Mackenzie Gray as The Eye

The Interrogator is questioning David about the incident at the Clockworks Hospital. They have taken him off his meds and testing him to see if his powers are too dangerous to control or if they should kill him before he realizes that he his powerful. The Eye is the man with the curly hair that is whittling a dog out of a piece of wood. He is quiet, but seems to be calling the shots. It is unclear if the Interrogator has made it after the incident at the pool, but The Eye will be around for chapters to come!

Paul Belsito as The Man Who Hides (In A Tree)

Ok, I couldn't resist, but Paul Belsito was so great as The Man Who Hides (In A Tree)! He subliminally is in almost every frame, quietly in the background, but helps to make the show in all it's surreal goodness! I love the Bollywood style dance and you can see him grooving in the tree during the scene.
