Have you got enough experience?
Sure, I saw a video on how to teach English and the guy was a bit of a nerd, so I could probably do it with my eyes closed.
I guess so. I’ve been working for about five years as an ESL teacher in Italy and also Japan. I’ve taught all levels and all ages.
I’m in my third job in the last year. Most of the students have liked me, but the bosses seemed to think I was a tad laid back.
Are you looking for a new challenge?
I’m all up for a new challenge to enrich my teaching experience and test my abilities.
Yep, I’m an expert on Fortnite now, so anything else similar would come in handy.
I love challenges. Did you know I can touch my nose with my tongue?
Would you like to take your career to the next level?
I would yes. I’ve been a paperboy since I was 13, so this is probably the next best thing.
I’ve been thinking about the Delta for a while now, and it seems to be the perfect way for me to gain promotion in my company.
What, you mean like actually get a job?
Have you got enough free time?
I get a coffee break between classes on Mondays and Tuesdays, otherwise I’ll just fit in some work as my students do a creative writing activity.
I only work in the afternoons, so I have all my mornings free, plus I’m prepared to give up some of my weekends to get the work done.
Yeah I’ve got loads. I’m not actually working at the moment, or teaching, not since they fired me for sleeping on the job.
Why would you like to do a Delta?
My mate Dave did one. Well, actually he started it, but said something about the tutors being all fussy and demanding, so he never finished it, but I am friendlier than him.
I’ve not got much else on at the moment, just teaching a couple of kids up the road for their end of term maths exam.
I firmly believe that it’s for me. I’ve looked into all the modules and they all sound interesting and rewarding in some way or another.
Have you got funds for the Delta?
I was thinking that once I get accepted on a course, I’ll pop round to a couple of bars with my guitar and hopefully get some money busking.
It’s my birthday in a couple of weeks and my Nan is due to give me her weekly pay.
I’ve been saving up for a couple of years, plus my employers said they’ll lend me some money as long as I stay with them for a couple of years.
What do you hope to gain from doing a Delta?
I just want to get through it without having to divorce my wife.
I’d like to become a better teacher, and increase my knowledge in all areas so I can help my students.
I love teaching English through songs, so some worksheets would be great.
How long do you think it will take?
How long’s a piece of chewing gum?
I reckon if I really work hard I can do all 3 modules at the same time, so about 3 or 4 months.
I’m planning on about 2 years. I don’t want to rush it and I know how much time and energy is needed to get through it.
What will be the most challenging aspect?
Getting out of bed before 1pm.
I hate exams, so I’m dreading module one, but I have a good memory so I’ll just read up on stuff the week before.
Probably module 2, where you get observed. I can get nervous beforehand, but when I’m in the lesson I actually quite enjoy it. Being observed normally helps me improve anyway.
Where’s the best place to do one?
Anywhere near a beach.
Do one? Out the door I guess.
I’ve heard that Teaching House are pretty good, so I guess I’ll try with them.
