Coming Soon: 2021's New Netflix Original Movies

With many of us cooped up in our homes more than usual this year, we've turned to turning on our TVs and checking streaming services much more frequently than in the past. Netflix has given us some incredible movies to keep us entertained in 2020, and they're excited to provide us with a great amount in 2021 as well!

Keep in mind that with the craziness of 2020, production has been delayed for some and release dates are still be to determined for many, but most are expected to be out next year. For now, here are the titles of Netflix Original movies set to be released in 2021!

Originally announced back in 2017, this animated project sees a fictionalized George Washington fighting off revolutionaries to fight King James. Simon Pegg, Channing Tatum and Judy Greer are just a few of the voicing characters.

This movie, directed and written by Linklater, was actually inspired by his childhood in Houston, TX! It's a family coming-of-age drama that will take you back to the late 1960's focusing on the moon from two main perspectives, the kid watching from afar and the astronauts.

This zombie film follows the aftermath of a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. Sounds pretty cool, huh?

If you're a fan of Marilyn Monroe or biographical drama films in general, we think you'll love this one. It's based on the 2000 novel (of the same name) and stars Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale and Julianne Nicholson.

A story about a young couple vacationing in Greece who become victims to a trap of violent conspiracy, this film is perfect for those seeking a good thriller.

This new sports movie actually originally debuted at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival but was so loved that Netflix quickly picked it up as their own. Specifically, this film follows a disgraced MMA fighter who tries turning her life around by prepping to defeat one of the top rising stars in the sport.

A little more on the fun side, this sequel will see the return of Babs, Ginger, Rocky, and Fletcher living life on their new island after escaping Tweedy's farm.

Another pickup from the Toronto International Film Festival, this Western film featuring Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin covers cowboys living in Philadelphia, with family struggles to be explored.

This Broadway special is the actual Broadway play live, and it's set to appear on Netflix before the end of May 2021, which is when the play is set to get underway again. Fingers crossed!

This is going to be a big one! The cast alone is a huge deal, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill. As if that wasn't enough, the storyline is cool too - it follows two astronomers trying to warn all of us of a giant meteorite hurtling towards Earth.

The three books were such hits that we can't imagine the three movies won't be too. All movies are already completed and set to be released in summer 2021!

Looking for a good dramatic romance? This film is set in the 1960's and follows a journalist in London who encounters a series of love letters that then take her on a ride of a lifetime.

This animation is being written by Meg LeFauve who was previously at Pixar and wrote Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur. Sounds promising!

If you like historical dramas, this film follows the weeks leading up to the second World War and efforts to construct a peace deal.

This musical, by Jonathan Larson, is sure to be good as he also created RENT (the musical).

Likely concluding the 'Tales of Arcadia' saga, the movie will reunite much of the big cast for a final battle against the Arcane Order. Voices include Diego Luna, Steven Yeun, Kelsey Grammer, Nick Frost, Nick Offerman, and Carlie Saxton.

Rumor has it this is set to release around Halloween 2021. The film is an animated horror with a story of two demon brothers escaping the underworld and a teenager who is trying to vanquish them.
