Gio Compario

Gio Compario

A natural performer and the life and soul of any party, but perhaps just a... teeny bit annoying? Gio Compario's long career as the voice of market comparison site Go Compare placed him at the top of many "Most Irritating Advert" polls, but he did what a Fluent Device needs to do, and greatly increased the brand's market share.

The Honey Monster

The Honey Monster

A loveable lump with a big appetite, who never goes out of style. The Honey Monster's slogan for Sugar Puffs cereal - "Tell 'em about the honey Mummy" made him an icon. He's one of several Fluent Devices created by adland legend John Webster. Eventually, the monster was paid the ultimate compliment - the brand renamed itself Honey Monster Puffs.

Smash Martians

Smash Martians

You combine curiosity and a sense of humour with a deep love of powdered potato products. A creation of John Webster, the 'Shakespeare of the Fluent Device', the Smash Martians were enormously popular in the late 70s, and have regularly appeared near the top of polls of the best UK adverts ever.

George The Bear

George The Bear

Your life is one mad whirl of pubs, bants, and low-strength lager, but your style may be a tiny bit... dated. Cockney bear George was created by John Webster for lager brand Hofmeister, and quickly became an 80s icon. His first ads were directed by Orson Welles, and the success of this Fluent Device kept the Hofmeister brand popular long after advertising fashions changed.

The Gold Blend Couple

The Gold Blend Couple

A true romantic, you know that the path of true love runs via the sophistication of instant coffee. From 1987 to 1993 UK audiences were captivated by a multi-episode will-they won't-they saga of two coffee lovers, a Fluent Device that became a pop culture sensation and put Nescafe Gold Blend firmly on the consumer map.
