When someone says belly dancing, Meher Malik stokes on every head first! Belly dancing was not considered as good dancing type in India when Meher took her small steps towards it but, it was her strong determination only that kept her motivated to follow the path. He moved to Delhi with her parents and started practising Belly dancing.
She said, “When I was 14, we went on a school trip to Cairo, Egypt. We were on a Nile cruise, and a belly dancer picked me up to dance with her, and I could. I think even just as an observer of belly dance had a lasting image on my mind.”
Meanwhile Meher got 5th rank in NIFT and started her career as a fashion designer. But seeing her keen interest in dancing, she left NIFT in just 4 months. She also put into a great effort to get present in a belly dance festival in London and fortunately could manage it between just after her schools and before joining at NIFT.
Above all, she is known today as the best belly dancer and a great inspiration. She proves that if passion is followed truly, there is nothing impossible in the world.
