Marcos Ayerza (Leicester Tigers)

The Tigers most consistent performer for years put in another big shift during the 2015/16 season with 15 appearances to drag his underperforing side into the play-offs.

Even at his old age of 33, the Argentinean is probably still the best loosehead in world rugby today.

The 22-year-old has already won an award double with Tigers this season and now he is in our Team of the Year.

Supporters voted Thacker the Young Player of the Year at the End of Year Awards while the playing squad picked him as the Players' Young Player of the Year.

3

Petrus du Plessis (Saracens)

This selection might raise a few eyebrows, but the powerful Sarries props massive contribution to their campaign cannot be underestimated, especially when a lot of their major stars were away at the Six Nations.

4

Maro Itoje (Saracens)

Maro Itoje may be a young man but he doesn’t play or act like someone that is fresh onto the professional scene. He has been trully outstanding this season!

The lock's physicality and rugby brain commands that opponents take note of him and he propels his team forwards with confidence and prowess.

5

George Kruis (Saracens)

For sheer consistent excellence it's impossible to leave out Itoje's second-row partner. Outstanding all season whether in defence or pinching lineout ball for Sarries at crucial times.

6

Jack Clifford (Harlequins)

Despite Harlequins failing to finish in the top six, Clifford has continued to impress with his handling skills while disrupting rucks in a disciplined, technically proficient manner.

The flanker has been marked out for years as one of the “next big things” to hit the English rugby scene — and with five caps and a Six Nations winners’ medal, the 23-year-old heads into the future with a lot of pressure on his shoulders

7

George Smith (Wasps)

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young lamented George Smith's inevitable departure from the Aviva Premiership after watching team after team unravel at the hands of the Australian back-rower.

The 35-year-old openside, who gave England breakdown coaching during the RBS 6 Nations, is nearing the end of his one-year contract at the Ricoh Arena and has resolved to complete the final instalment of his celebrated career in Japanese club rugby.

8

Thomas Waldrom (Exeter Chiefs)

Nathan Hughes of Wasps and Saracen's Billy Vunipola can count themselves unlucky not to get in the team, however, Waldrom earned his place with a series of colossal performances.

It is also impossible to overlook the league’s most prolific No 8 as his 13 scores mean he is the Aviva Premierships top scorer for a second consecutive year following his 16 tries last term.

9

Will Chudley (Exeter Chiefs)

Chudley may not be one of the scrum-halfs who has played a part in England's resurgence, however, the savvy decision-maker has helped lead the Chiefs to their first ever Premiership play-offs.

The 28-year-old is definetly one of the most udnerrated players in the Aviva Premiership.

10

Andy Goode (Newcastle Falcons)

Goode, who is on the Rugby Players' Association player of the year shortlist, despite playing only 344 minutes in the Premiership this season makes our starting XV.

The 36-year-old ex-England 10 came out of retirement to join Newcastle Falcons in December on a three-month contract. He made seven appearances, of which four were starts, and scored 57 points to help Falcons avoid relegation.

Without him they were probably doomed...

12

Johnny Leota (Sale Sharks)

The Samoan powerhouse centre, who signed a new two-year deal in March, has played a key role in Sale qualifying for next seasons European Champions Cup.

Leota joined Sale in the summer of 2011 and has since cemented himself as one of the key members of Steve Diamond’s squad, scoring six crucial tries in nine starts.

The 23-year-old once again struggled to establish himself on the international scene yet continued to be one of the must stars see in the Aviva Premiership this season.

His powerful running, long-range left-footed kicking option and every-improving defence made him the only man for this position.

14

Semesa Rokoduguni (Bath Rugby)

Rokoduguni, who has been Baths best player throughout the 2015/16 season, produced another eye-catching performance as he ended the season with a brace against Leicester Tigers.

The winger ended the season with an impressive 12 tries and could make himself available to represent Great Britain at the Rio Olympics if he is overlooked by Eddie Jones this summer.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation at the Ricoh Arena this season, scoring nine tries in all as a talisman of their campaign on two fronts.

Their European campaign came unstuck at the semi-final stage to Saracens last month but their domestic hopes are still very much alive and there is no doubt their fan favourite fullback will be key to that.
