Tal'darim
Tal'darim
"My life for the Highlord!"
Also known as The Forged or as The Chosen, the Tal'darim are a fanatical war based society. They were taken by Amon as he and his followers departed from Aiur. Unlike the other Protoss factions, the Tal'darim do not use the Khala. In the End War, the Tal'darim Highlord Ma'lash was slain and replaced with Alarak with the help of other Protoss factions. They themselves began to help the other factions when Alarak -the new Highlord- sought revenge against the Xel'naga known as Amon for betraying the Tal'darim.
Those who find themselves as one of the Tal'darim are ruthless, direct, and are a force to be reckoned with. They are chaotic and may destroy all the things in the way of their path. To them, the cause is what matters when they're not the ones in charge. Only a select few keep in mind other important factors, and they may be the ones to lead such causes in the end.
Purifiers
Purifiers
"I am a Sentinel. I am undying. I am pure."
The Purifiers are mechanical constructs that were constructed by the Conclave to be an ultimate fighting force during a time of technological breakthroughs in intelligent robotics and artificial intelligence. They were treated unfairly by the Conclave and eventually rebelled. This rebellion was put down and all Purifiers were powered down and put into Cybros, a command vessel. They were brought back during the End War and assisted in the war against Amon under promise the Purifiers would be allowed to lead themselves.
Those who find themselves as Purifiers see major value in independence and going their own way. They may have an interest in Artificial Intelligence or could be very insistent on self preservation. It is all about the person, rather than the cause.
Khalai
Khalai
"Strength in unity."
Also known as the Templar or Aiur Protoss, the Khalai are the Protoss that have relied on the Khala after the Aeon Of Strife. The Khala was the catalyst for their culture, a monolithic type. The culture promoted conformity and collectivism, to conquer their emotions. The idea of change was not liked. The history of the Khalai in particular is vast, with a major moment Khalai having to endure the loss of their home world of Aiur and other things such as cutting their connection to the Khala in the End War. After the End War, the Khalai was the driving force among other factions involved to rebuild and unify the Protoss once more.
Those who find themselves as Khalai see themselves as those who want to do good while within their system. Cooperation is key with those they are associated with rather than competition or isolation. Their dedication to a cause is very certain while there are a few cases where they may reluctantly adjust, whether by force or will.
Nerazim
Nerazim
"From the shadows, I come."
Also known as the Dark Templar, the Nerazim are the Protoss that have shunned the Khala throughout their existence. They are individualistic and maintain a constant need for knowledge. Every Nerazim is encouraged to go on their own path. Actions are the main focus, rather than words. Groups of Nerazim may be more loyal to their group than the Nerazim as a whole. This banding can create conflicts, but these are quick to be forgotten when bigger threats loom over them. In the End War, the Nerazim contributed after their home world was destroyed to stop the Xel'naga known as Amon from infesting it with the Zerg.
Those who find themselves as one of the Nerazim are more likely to stay small scale in general and is suited to solve most issues themselves. They may be interested in the unknown and finding interesting things. They are not beyond picking a fight, but recognize when there's something bigger. It is less about the cause and more about where you are.
