Dalhousie Castle
(Bonnyrigg, near Edinburgh, Scotland)
This wonderfully compact little castle is situated just 8 miles from Edinburgh’s city centre. Its charming red stone facade is covered in ivy and could have come straight from a Disney movie.
Overlooking the River Esk, the drum tower, the oldest part of the current structure, dates back to the mid 15th century and the castle is steeped in rich history.
King Edward I and Oliver Cromwell have both used the the castle as a base for their forays into Scotland and both Queen Victoria and Sir Walter Scott have paid visits.
With 29 individually styled bedrooms available, guests will be able to enjoy clay pigeon shooting, a Hogmanay Dinner Dance and even a murder mystery as part of the new year's package.

Inverlochy Castle

Tulloch Castle
(Dingwall, near Inverness)
The former home of the Bain family and Clan Davidson, Tulloch Castle was built in the 16th century and is surrounded by the beautiful Dingwall countryside.
Close to the bustling town of Dingwall and just 15 miles north of Inverness, the castle has 20 bedrooms and even has its own resident ghost, with a young boy reportedly taking a picture of the spectre in 2008.
This castle will be a big hit with golfing fans as there are no less than three Championship golf courses a short drive away.

Traquair Castle

Described as one of the original homes of Scotland's Kings, the white-walled Traquair Castle is located just 30 miles south of Edinburgh.
Considered to be Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, there are few places better qualified to be your home away from home for Hogmanay.
The castle has its own edged maze, spanning half an acre, an on-site brewery and even offers Salmon fishing on the River Tweed.
For Hogmanay there aren't any celebrations in the house itself but the Traquair Arms, a short stride from the castle, offers great local Hogmanay celebrations.
