When Janie Hall of Kansas City agreed to go out on a date with a man she had met on dating website Plenty of Fish, she never imagined she would end up saving his life on the day they agreed to meet, April 7th. But that's exactly what happened. Hall's date began coughing and tried to excuse himself from the table, but instead, he collapsed to the ground unconscious before their food had even come, alerting Hall to the fact that this was more serious than simply choking on a piece of chicken.

We weren’t eating so I knew he wasn’t choking. I turned my head to the side to give him some privacy and then the next thing I knew there were dishes falling onto the side of my booth.

She quickly flagged down a waiter to call 911 and after checking for a pulse, she immediately began CPR. An ambulance arrived shortly afterward. Getting in touch with his daughter, Hall was invited to visit him in the hospital three days later, where he was awake, remembered everything about their date, and seemed to be doing well.

He looked amazing. And he remembered everything about our conversation at the restaurant. I told him, ‘I never got to thank you for the meal,’ and he said ‘Oh my God, you saved my life!’
