9 Things You Need To Know About Disney's First Latina Princess, Elena of Avalor!

Elena is described by Disney as "a brave and adventurous teenager who has saved her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen."

You can see her on her new show, "Elena of Avalor," on Disney Channel. It premiers next Friday, July 22 at 7 pm.

The show will feature the traditions, foods, and customs of Latin and Hispanic cultures.

The show will also involve lots of Latin and Hispanic mythology, folklore, and magic.

And of course, there will be lots of singing and Latin musical styles.

Elena will be voiced by "Young and Hungry" actress Aimee Carrero.

Carrero has said of the show, "Disney's been in my family for a very long time and just to see my own images represented, my own culture represented, is really special and I hope it will be for everybody watching."

Carrero has also given us this exciting insight into Elena's character: "There's no 'Prince Charming,' so I hope people at home watching will just be inspired her sense of self, her confidence and her leadership."

Carrero also sings Elena's anthem, "My Time," which will be featured in the series premier.
