Twenty Seven Dachshunds were rescued from a private home in Long Island, NY. The fire department were called after a fire was reported, and arrived on the scene to find that the twenty seven dogs were living in deplorable conditions, and all were desperately trying to escape the home.

ASPCA workers had to wear hazmat suits to rescue the dogs safely.

The home has been condemned, and the owner of the dogs John Lowrey will face criminal charges.

The dogs vary in size and age, but not breed, which leads many to believe he was running a small breeding operation.

The good news is the dogs have all been rescued by the ASPCA, have been neutered, cared for and fed and are now looking for forever homes!
