Meet Nicholas.

Nicholas was part of a litter of eight. Unfortunately Nicholas's birth mother ended up eating three of his siblings, and was in the process of eating Nicholas when he was rescued.
This sometimes happens when the mother gives birth and is severely undernourished.

Luckily, Nicholas was rescued by BoredPanda user 'aleovir'.

Now, Little Nicky has some new parents. These two cats.
This cuddle is everything. Everything.

Nicholas had to be fed every three hours, and have his bandaged changed and kept clean every day. The prognosis was initially not hopeful.

But with the help of these two loving cats, and five other dogs in his new family, aleovir reports he's growing into quite a lovely dog!

No word yet on how big Lil Nicky will be, or how his stunted leg will grow, but we know one thing: He'll be loved.
