Labor MP Jo Cox was attacked in her constituency in Birstall, West Yorkshire. She died of injuries sustained from the attack, about an hour ago.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this tragic time.

Cox was shot three times by an as yet unidentified man. He initially attacked her with a home made weapon not unlike a knife. When strangers tried to intervene, he produced a gun and shot Cox three times. She had been giving an open advice session to her constituents, as she did every week.

Armed Police surrounded Leeds General Infirmary, as Doctors tried to save Cox's life.

Cox, 41, was an outspoken supporter of remaining in the EU. The attacker allegedly shouted "Britain First" before he attacked her.

Though his identity and intention still remain unknown.

4

David Cameron paid Jo Cox tribute, saying she was "a committed and caring MP." Other tributes from British MP's are flooding twitter.

Cameron also said his thoughts were with her husband and two young children. The flags have been lowered to half mast at Downing Street.

Jo Cox was an outspoken MP, who just yesterday challenged the "Vote Leave" campaign flotilla on the Thames with her own "Vote Stay" boat. She was fearless, caring, and devoted to her constituency. She will be deeply missed, by her husband, children, and co-workers. Britain is poorer for her loss.

Thank you for all your hard work, Jo. R.I.P.
