What spooky destination should you visit?

Just south of Mexico City, find the Island of Dolls (Isla de las Munecas) between the canals of Xochimico. The small island is home to hundreds of decapitated, severed dolls hanging from trees and nestled among branches. Legend has it that a girl was found drowned here and the dolls possess her spirit. Wander the island and keep an eye on the dolls...did that head just move?

Find Transylvania in Central Romania, known for its Gothic castles and the legend of Dracula. Keep your eye out for vampires in this age-old area between castles and mountains and valleys that dot the countryside. Tales of the supernatural have been part of Romanian storytelling and culture for centuries, magnified by the Dracula story first published in 1897. Get out the garlic before a vacation here!

The hilltop castle in Odenwald, overlooking the city of Darmstady, Germany is said to have been the inspiration for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Enter if you dare and take a tour full of spooks and frights. Each year, the castle is host to a huge Halloween festival, bringing the castle and its monsters to life under the dim moonlight.

Calling all witches! Visit Salem, Mass. on the north shore of Massachusetts, made famous for its witch trials in 1692. Visit the Salem Witch Museum or take a Salem Haunted Walking Tour and learn about the executions that took place here in years gone by. Say your hocus pocus and abracadabra and end up with a vacation to Salem. This town isn't just spooky at Halloween, but all year round.
