Alexandra Ellis was driving. Without a license. Whilst under the influence of both drugs AND alcohol. She was reversing down a street when she hit a man. She kept on reversing until she hit a wooden pole.

Alexandra had been staying with her Grandparents whilst her parents were out of town, but she snuck out to throw a party at her parents empty house

Alexandra had been in a kind of rehab facility before she was due to attend College. At no point did she exit her vehicle and try to help the man she hit. He was Jeff Dunesbury, and was pronounced dead an hour after Alexandra ran him down.

When Officers caught up with Ellis she freely admitted to the crime, and told Police to arrest her. She also admitted she may still be intoxicated. A field test reviled that Alexandra was sober, and when told that the man she had hit had died, Ellis immediately showed remorse

Ellis has not taken the event lightly

Alexandra was remanded to Anchorage jail, after being sentenced to up to three years in jail. But she only served seventy four days of her sentence, being released due to good behavior

It's clear that Alexandra has learned her lesson, and it's more than likely that she is truly remorseful for her actions-but doesn't 74 days in jail seem a little light for killing a man in a drug fueled drive by? What would you do if this was your daughter? Should Alexandra spend more time in jail for her crime?
