Adult League Softball is your thing; it's the high point of your week, every week. Your time on the field IS the happy hour: you never fail to put the beer in beer-league. You're the team captain and know that every win is on account of your artful pitching ability, and the outfield is to blame for every loss.

Catcher

Catcher

You can think of being the catcher in one of two ways: either your team thinks you're so attractive that they want to face you the entire game OR you're the team's least attractive member and they want you to cover up your face with a mask. Either way, you get to hang back, talk to opposing batter into swinging at bad pitches, and have more fun than everyone else.

DH/Benchwarmer

DH/Benchwarmer

So maybe softball isn't for you. With time comes experience–you'll be out there missing routine plays like the rest of 'em in no time. You're still a vital member of the squad, though. You put the team on your back at league trivia night, and your cheerleading prevents your catcher from falling asleep behind the plate.

Outfield

Outfield

You're in the outfield. Maybe you're a daydreamer, imagining the world's next great invention. You could be a speedster, able to get to any fly ball under the sun. There's a chance you're the team weightlifter, with the arm to gun any runner out. If you're not one of those things though, you're most likely a defensive liability. Sorry. If you don't like being distant from the action, I'm sure you could switch positions with the catcher.

First Base

First Base

You're the first baseman. You don't live for rec softball, but you're happy to be out there. You're always ready with a witty comment for the lucky opponent who manages to get on base. You've got the reach to get your mitt on the ball, no matter how bad the second baseman's arm is.

Infield

Infield

Easy Jeter–this isn't the MLB. Your days of playing Varsity might be behind you, but you're still in it to win it. You're peppy, offering unwanted encouragement to all your teammates. The other team is impressed with your ability, just not as impressed as you are.
