We all need a little detox once in a while. No one’s body can continue going on and on forever exactly the same without needing a little TLC, and the older that you get, and the harder that you work, the more that we need to take stock and see how our bodies are doing. When we put them through too much, and the toxins that normal life brings us into contact with starts to clog them up, we can start to suffer the side effects of an intoxicated body. We suffer from tiredness or lethargy, we struggle to sleep, we become bloated. Some of us even start to have fractious nerves, or headaches that simply will not go away. The trouble is that once you have come to the decision that you need a detox, you now have to make the choice between the various different types of detoxes that are available – and how are you meant to decide? The trouble is that when different parts of our bodies need detoxing, we need to go through a different kind of detox, and that is something that the celebrities and health gurus simply do not take into account.

For example, one excellent way of detoxing if you have become very bloated is to fast. This means that you do not eat anything solid for twenty four hours, and just stick to liquids during that time. It may sound a little far fetched, but if you do this then your stomach and your digestive system has a chance to rebalance itself out, and start to reach more of an equilibrium – which it was not able to do when you were continuously eating. Another drinking fast is to just drink juices for a day, which take all of the goodness from the fruit and vegetables, and ensure that you drink it all down in one go. So many of us say that we are going to eat our five a day, but how many of us actually do it!

Another way to detox your body is to remove some of the food types that are bad for you, and are making your body run at a lower rate. Some people find that removing meat is an excellent way of giving your body a revitalising boost, and others remove processed sugar. You may find that experimenting with removing different things can give you a clue as to what your body needs less of, and then you can simply not eat or drink that food group for a few weeks – or even permanently – to give your body the support that it needs.
