WHY YOU SHOULD TRAVEL BY TRAIN IN EUROPE
WHY YOU SHOULD TRAVEL BY TRAIN IN EUROPE
WHY YOU SHOULD TRAVEL BY TRAIN IN EUROPE
I think its fair to say we get pretty excited about travelling in Europe.
We’re used to being geographically isolated from the rest of the world, where long-haul, expensive flights are the norm for any sort of international travel.
Then suddenly you’re in Europe on your journey.
There’s airports everywhere offering short-haul flights to incredible destinations that you’re dying to go to.
You get excited and book flights hopping all around Europe, and life seems amazing.
But then you realize all the extra hassles that come with flying…
You have to get to the airport 1-2 hours before take off
Plus it takes around 1 hour to get to the airport on the outskirts of the city
You have to pay for airport transfers
Oh and you need to pay extra for your luggage
Then you have to wait for your luggage at the other end
More transfers from the airport into the city
And to be honest I’m not a fan of flying in general – despite how much I love to travel.
Here’s where trains become the better option.
First forget the trains that we have at home.
The ones in Europe are fast, reliable and comfortable.
You don’t have to check-in early,
Usually train stations are in the centre of town
Often there’s no extra cost for a bag
They’re high speed trains
There’s nice views out the window
No turbulence
There are just so many benefits.
The biggest one for me being the time you can save.
Obviously I realise you can’t always use the train – time restrictions and physical distance between ports can be an issue.
BUT if you’re cruising round Europe for a few weeks/months during your journey, I recommend looking into it.
