You definitely need to read Dragon's Trail.

You definitely need to read Dragon's Trail.

You are exactly the kind of person who is loving this book. Seriously. You know the blade, understand why and how people fight, care about historical accuracy, and you probably get pissed off when writers get this stuff wrong. Check out all the 4 & 5 star ratings on Amazon or Goodreads and you might even see one of your friends there. Don't let another second of your life go by without this book in it.

Dragon's Trail is worth adding to your reading list when you're looking for a fun page-turner.

Dragon's Trail is worth adding to your reading list when you're looking for a fun page-turner.

You appreciate a well-written story and have a good sense of humor. You probably don't geek out too much about swords and battles, and might not even be a fan of fantasy, but you like page-turning stories that work on a lot of different levels. You'd probably enjoy Dragon's Trail for the humor and the thriller-style approach to a portal fantasy. Put it on your "vacation reading" list or pick it up next time you have a lazy weekend (you just might end up staying up all night).

Please read something else.

Please read something else.

Dragon’s Trail is not for you. Run the other direction and save yourself; the rest of us are a lost cause. Honestly, we'd recommend finding a different book with less fighting and swearing. There are a lot of books out there that you'd enjoy reading more, but please don't ask us what they are.

Wait and read Dragon's Trail and the sequel (The New Magic) together

Wait and read Dragon's Trail and the sequel (The New Magic) together

You are a reader who appreciates nuance, fine worldbuilding, and well-developed characters. You get a little irked by male-dominated stories where the women don't have much of consequence to do. If you read Dragon's Trail by itself, you might think that it was a typical testosterone-fueled swashbuckler (and you wouldn't be totally wrong). But Dragon's Trail is the first part of a much larger story arc, and women take a much more central role in the second book. Maybe hold off reading it until The New Magic is available in 2018, and then read them both together.
