Neville Croucher grew up in Dover, England, where he lived as the son of a baker. In his youth, Croucher dreamed of joining the Royal Air Force, after a German fighter plane dropped a bomb near where he used to do his rounds.
Neville eventually had his chance to fly and survived more than 800 combat hours in the cockpit of Hurricane fighters during World War II.
In the shock of his life, Mr. Croucher was given the chance to fly a Spitfire at Headcorn Aerodrome, after having spent most of his life wondering what it would be like to fly one of the most famous planes.
