50's Ideal Teenager

Many american teens enjoyed dancing especially "swing dancing", it was a very popular dance at the time that teens would dance to in rock n' roll music. Plus, many teens found dances that were very beautiful and that make you move around fun, because they liked the surge of excitement and the ability to express themselves.

Many teens back then could drive or have a car but mostly boys would, parents would buy their sons cars to teach them to be more independent. Also, cars were rapidly made and the ideal "american teen" was that each older child or boy in the family would drive or have a car, so that he could carry out the fathers job, or become a father figure for his family.

Rock and roll was a very popular type of music in the 1950's, teens liked the loud, upbeat, and cheerful music. It made them move around and clap on beats, it was almost like they connected with rock and roll more than any other type of music. And it makes teens dance joyfully all around the dance floor. It was there place of openness.

Education and proper entire was very important for teens, they were expected to have kanky pants, t-shirts, and big sweaters. It was a type of formal wear to show that teens were seen as an "obedient child" and an intelligent one too. Plus, it would give large respect from their teachers as being a corrected student.

Girls in the 1950's were always having a very tight look in their hair it was short, curled and feminine, it mostly was a girly hairstyle because they were portrayed as a sweet, caring, and loving teen. And almost every teenage girl would have short hair and if they had longer hair then they would curl it up, or put it in a bun or high pony tail.

Girls had on dresses or skirts, never pants or any type of long jeans as it would make them seem less fenemine or more manly. The ideal girl fashion was to be a beautiful, and bright young girl. It showed that they were raised right by their parents. This image is signifcant cause it see's happy teens with there skirts and cute accesscoires (earings or bandana's)

Many teenagers were encouraged to drink Pepsi or coke, even ads encouraged teens to drink Pepsi as shown above. In the ad it shows that they should drink Pepsi during school work or when they are hanging out with there friends or when having dinner with there family.
