An In-Depth Look: Custom Collages

The Classic Collage is created with the pictures strategically placed and overlapped with each other. The edges of the photos are blurred to create the signature classic collage look and feel.
The Contemporary Collage has a more modern feel. The edges are straight and white. The pictures do not overlap and are not cropped.

We suggest to book about 3-4 weeks for the entire process. The timing of the process depends on 2 steps:
1. The Design Phase
2. The Printing & Shippinga Phase

The entire Design Phase will move quickly as long as you maintain regular communication and make decisions. The only waiting required in the Design Phase is the 48 hour design turnaround time. Most people take only about 1 week to finish the design phase.

The Printing Phase happens after all design decisions are finished. This is can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks. We try to get you your wall as soon as we can, but the printing can take a while because we are printing large, high resolution images. In addition, we need to wait for the ink to dry. We work hard to ensure that there are no smudges or errors before we ship your wall. We truly appreciate your patience.

That is absolutely no problem at all! We custom design each of our walls, so whatever shape you have is the shape we'll design to. The key to this is to reach out to us at hello@myheartwall.com and send us a sketch of your wall and the dimensions. It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Even a rough sketch with the dimensions written in is perfect!

The amount of pictures we'll need is based on how large the wall is and what type of design is chosen. The amount is always provided as a range because due to the custom design of each collage, the number can vary due to picture resolution and size. Due to what's also in the pictures, they can be positioned in different ways for overlapping.

We cannot guarantee every single photo provided will be used. Sometimes there are just more than are needed. We ensure with our designs that each wall is aesthetically pleasing and never overwhelming or overcrowded.

We ask that you identify 20 priority photos during submission. These photos will be ensured placement on the collage AND will the placed in optimum viewing areas. All other photos will be filled in by what looks best.

No problem! You are allowed 1 round of minor revisions.

Minor revisions involve swapping a few photo placements or switching a few pictures for new ones.

If you decide you want to redo the whole design with many new pictures or have the orientation re-designed, unfortunately we will need to charge you a minor fee.

Yes, we can do that! Just make sure to specify that to us early on in the design phases.

No worries. Let's walk through the thought process.

First, decide whether you want traditional or repositionable paper.
Are you okay with hiring someone to install for you? Or are you okay with installing the paper on your own and using traditional wallpaper paste?
If you answered yes, then traditional wallpaper would be a fine way to go.
If you want to hang the wallpaper yourself but would rather place it on the wall like a big sticker, go for the repositionable option.

Second, depending on your wallpaper type, you have various options for textures.
For repositionable, the most popular texture is Caviar. It has a slight texture, but overall is versatile with many interior design styles. The Classic texture is a matte smooth texture. The Ravello texture mimics an art canvas.
For traditional, the most popular texture is Canvas, which is the most versatile. The Cabretta texture has an aged, leather look and feel. The Mystical is the smoother option, but still has a bit of texture to it.

Your package containing your wallpaper roll will also have a flyer containing installation instructions and tips.
Overall, we highly suggest any customer who has purchased traditional wallpaper to contact a local installer. A professional installer will make sure to do a fantastic job and will ensure that you don't have to get messy with paste.
If you have repositionable paper, read the instructions carefully. It very important to prep and clean the wall you will be applying the wallpaper on. If there's any dust or grime on the wall, the wallpaper will have a hard time adhering to the wall.
It is possible to install repositionable paper by yourself. However, for best results, we have found that having an extra 1 or 2 people helping works wonders.
