See What Happens To Cats And Beagles When An Animal Testing Research Facility Is Shut Down!
A research facility is closing its doors and many are wondering what will happen to the dozens of live animals within the center. Both cats and beagles at the facility were bred in captivity and have zero experience to the outside world. Will they succeed in finding a happily ever after?

A research facility on the coast of Western Ireland is closing its doors!
And the news offers much relief to a community concerned about the animals bred within the center. Dozens of cats and beagles within the center have been bred in captivity, with very little experience to the outside world. Not only that! These innocent animals have never known a loving home or what it's like to be part of a family. For these animals, home consisted of cold concrete walls and floors with 24/7 indoor surveillance.
ISPCA to the Rescue!
The Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, most commonly known as and referred to as the ISPCA, is a charity operating in the Republic of Ireland which promotes animal welfare. Recently, ISPCA has taken a great interest in rescuing these animals in hopes of rehabilitation and placing them into loving homes.
A strange new world...
Initially, many of the beagles were incredibly frightened and overwhelmed by the exposure to the outside world. Grass, walks, playing, and even affection were completely new concepts to them. Many of the dogs would huddle in corners or urinate out of fear. And unlike most dogs, they were unable to make direct eye contact.
But after a few days...
The dogs began to understand their new world and embraced it. No longer shying away from human affection, these canines began to run and play with the volunteers at the center. And even concepts such as making eye contact became more frequent!
Pretty soon, these adorable little guys were ready to be placed in loving homes!
On January 13th, John McGhee took the shyest of the lot home and named her Carol. Carol was already 18 months old but still so incredibly timid that one of the ISPCA staff members had to carry her to the car. Carol threw up on the journey home. But, ever so patient, John cleaned up after her, comforted her, and took her home.
After a week in her new home, Carol finally opens up to John!
Since their union, the two are inseparable as John takes Carol everywhere with him. Carol went from having zero concept of affection to now sleeping on a pillow beside John and his other dog, Ben.
Potter has also found a loving home!
Isabell Kidd and her family adopted Potter in February. On his first day in his new home, he urinated everywhere and eventually hid from his new family. And while it took a while for Potter and his humans to understand one another, today Potter is a more confident and playful dog and is incredibly loyal to his new family.
Were you wondering about the cats at the facility?
Not to worry! ISPCA also rescued the many adorable felines at the center and have been actively working with them on a successful rehabilitation. The rescue group prefers the cats be adopted in pairs or in groups of three, as they've grown dependent on each other's company.
Though many of the animals at the former research facility had a rough start... it sure won't end that way!
Thanks to the many hours of service and dozens of volunteers, these animals have a brighter future ahead of them with endless amounts of love. This is only the beginning!
