It's an escape.

There's nothing better than indulging in a bit of pop culture diversion after a crap day at work. The Bachelor is an excellent way to press pause on our stress levels for a couple of hours each week. And relax.

2

We're glad it's not us.

It's SO much fun watching the drama and romance unfold... but imagine if it was you. Competing with 20 other women for the same guy. Having to go on potentially awkward dates on national television. The Bachelor makes us appreciate the fact that, even if our love lives aren't perfect, at least we get to date off-screen.

3

It's a good starting point for conversations about gender politics.

When else do we get the opportunity to talk openly to a fairly wide range of people about whether it's ok to judge a woman on her appearance, or why women are expected to behave in a certain way?

4

Other feminists are doing it.

Powerful women and feminists including Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Schumer and Anna Kendrick are huge fans of the show.

5

Every woman is different.

Just because you find the idea of going on a reality show to find true love nausea-inducing, doesn't mean everyone else does. The Bachelor is a reminder that women have choices. If a woman wants to find the man of her dreams in a televised fairytale romance, then that's ok.

6

Give these women some R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Volunteering to be scrutinized and (eventually) rejected on national television is a pretty ballsy thing to do.

7

It's ok to like pop culture.

The Bachelor reminds us that we can like things that aren't feminist culture-related. It's ok to watch what we want.
