How internet has improved communication

The world we live in today is defined by how people relate to each other. When people interact well, they are said to be in connection but when they disagree, they are disconnected. The world has become so small and there is no way a person can live alone. Population keeps increasing and swelling while natural resources keep reducing. The world is no longer as huge as it used to be. As a mater fact, most if the places that seemed so far can be reached with ease simply through the internet.

Technology and technological innovation has ensured that the world keeps going and humanity does not turn on itself. If you look at what is happening around the world, especially in major cities, you will realize that if all the technologies innovated are reverted, there would be no humanity.

Technology is the light that shines the modern world. If put of it would be worse that the era of darkness. The chaos and confusion that will erupt may not compare to anything else. It is as if the world is nothing without all the fancy things that glow in it. The good news is that, technology has created a better world and it keeps improving as new and better ones come into light.

Communication technology is one the biggest innovations of the 21st century. It is said to be the centre of the world today. The world has gone through different eras as it walked towards civilization. Right from the dark ages when humanity did not understand itself and the reason for existence, to the Stone Age period when conscience started to grow and human curiosity was born.

It came to the agriculture revolution when humanity has learned to grow crops and rear animals. From there, we experience the industrial revolution that saw many manufacturing industries opened for different products. Today we are living in the information era where a king or a queen is defined by public views.

What is communication?

Communication is defined as a way through which information is passed from one place to another. The places are not just physical place but components by which communication is achieved. These component include the sender, the medium and there receiver.

Communication can travel one direction to the receiver only, or two directions, to the receiver then back to the sender. The message is at the centre of it all. A person who posts waffle duvet covers for sell on the internet is the sender. The message is obvious. The internet represents the medium while the buyer is the receiver.

The message can be changed and altered according to preference when replying. You can see a white cover on the internet but order a black or a grey. The sender will then give feedback on the options they have including the material, say maybe they have only silver linen. As you exchange the words and understand each other’s needs, you are thus communicating.

Communication has to be relevant and make sense. You cannot just say something because you want to. There must be a reason for giving that information.

Communication must also be strategic. You have to understand your audience and internalize the message for you to know the best way to present is. If you are bearing bad news for example, you must understand the impact of what you are about to say to the receiver. In such a situation, you must be very careful and find a way around it is the person is weak.

Communication has gone through a lot of evolution and today, the world is experiencing another level for communication that was never imagined. The internet has had the greatest impact on methods and ways of communicating. Here are the major impacts of internet to communication.

It has made access to information easy

Society depends entirely on communication at many levels. It is useful for decision making, for knowledge, for socialization and generally to stay alert. Where there is no information, the society is as good as dead. Media is the greatest source of information today. It can been so for a very long time.

However, media has been having its own share of problems from governments. There is too much censorship on media for instance. Media also faces a lot of threats from governments especially when they report on what does not favor the government. Because of this, media houses may with hold some important pieces of information.

The internet on the other hand is free and anything can be reported. It has been used to pass a lot of information that you would otherwise nit hear from TV or radio.

Apart from this, the internet has made it possible to access information from anywhere in the world as long as you can connect. If you are looking to buy something, say duvet cover waffle type, you can easily find it on the internet from anywhere. If you were to wait for an advert on TV, you might miss it all the time.

It is the new media that has improved socialization

The characteristics that the internet possesses as a means of communication are beyond doubt. It is makes people to receive information instantly as it happens. With the internet, you do noy have to wait until you can get to you to house before finding out what is trending.

Humanity depends entirely in each other. The internet has brought people from all walks of life and distant places together. A person who is in Europe can easily get in touch with a person in Africa and talk as if they are in the same room. It can pool people together and let them discuss development matters to improve their lives.

Social media is the biggest platform on the internet. It has made it possible for people to connect and stay connected. There are people who find it difficult to make friends in real life yet they have thousands on social media. They can freely talk and discuss issues that affect them. Social media is a platform where relationships are made.
