The Craziest Emotional Support Animals EVER

In January 2021, a woman tried to board a United Airlines flight with a peacock. Needless to say, the airline refused the feathered passenger, and the two had to find another way to their destination.

In 2017, a Florida man fought to make his squirrel a support animal when his building tried to evict him, arguing he had a special connection with the animal which he rescued from a hurricane.

In 2018, a Colorado State University student majoring in psychology spent her days on campus accompanied by her emotional support sugar glider.

A small fish in a water tank is definitely not what we think of as an emotional support animal. But in March 2018, boarding a flight in Albany, someone really tried to bring their goldfish as an ESA.

Although we haven’t heard the actual story of an emotional support hedgehog, American Airlines felt it was necessary to announce that they are no longer welcome on their flights. Ouch!

We definitely didn’t expect to see this one on that list, but apparently in Ireland, the Donkey Sanctuary in Belfast uses these cuties to help cancer patients.

Another flight on which we would really love to be a fly on the wall: the one that had a turtle as an emotional support animal! We wonder if the passenger who brought it was named April O’Neil...
