The Talbot

Built in 1896, the pub in Goldsmith Avenue was a popular watering hole for travellers arriving at and departing from Fratton railway station. It closed in 1981 and was converted to accommodation..

The Florist

Constructed in 1924, The Florist occupies a prominent spot in Fratton Road just north of St Mary's Church. Brewers Wadworth called time at the pub in 2012, and it looked like the building would be sold off for housing, but thankfully it reopened after new investment. Despite being in central Portsmouth, the pub boast a sizeable beer garden.

The George & Dragon

This pub dates from 1925 and its striking half-timbered style with ornate Brickwood glazed brickwork and mosaic tiling makes it one of the most distinctive buildings on Kingston Road.

The Ship Anson

Rebuilt in 1922 to replace the earlier Ship Anson, the pub on The Hard was amalgamated with the next-door King & Queen (built to a very different style) in 1967.

Constructed in 1900 the Grade II listed pub closed in 1970. After many years as a restaurant it was converted to an estate agent’s premises 15 years ago.
