Jonathan is 183 years old. Here he is in 1900 on the remote island of St Helena.

2

The giant tortoise has lived on the British outpost of St Helena Island since 1882.

3

Recently, experts were concerned that Jonathan wasn't going to be able to stick around too much longer due to his poor eyesight and failing sense of smell.

4

Luckily, island vet Dr. Joe Hollins had other plans. He immediately put Jonathan on a healthy diet of apples, carrots, guava, banana, and cucumber.

5

Now Jonathan is back to his old, playful self.

6

Experts predict that he has a long future ahead of him.
