The protagonist of the story, Thomas finds himself at the center of everything. He is a hero, a man who will do anything to protect his loved ones, even if it’s illegal. Thomas can be hot headed and reckless at times, but he always has the best interests for his family and friends in mind.

Kara has to deal with all of her brothers reckless moves and decisions. She keeps a level head most of the time, but she can get very angry if the situation in front of her is difficult She is very smart but needs proof to believe something. She is the voice of reason in the story.

Michal is a very wise Roush (a white bat) who knows everything about everything. He likes to let the humans make their own decisions but he will offer his input when needed. He is a leader and very by-the-book. He stays serious and stout for the most part, but can’t help cracking a smile once and while.

Gabil is a class clown and a mighty warrior at the same time. He likes to be funny and interrupts Michal often, but he means well. He is a strong Roush who doesn’t shy away from battles with the Shataiki and steps up when there is a challenge. He thinks very highly of himself, though some people don’t always agree with him.
