Almost every adult has at least a few flat moles on their bodies or faces but what Causes Flat Moles?

What Causes Flat Moles?
People with lighter complexions tend to have more moles than those with darker skin. Most moles will appear during childhood and adolescence and will remain on your body for your lifetime.
Some may darken over time while others can grow lighter in color. They can form as a single mole or in clusters and may appear to be black, brown, tan, and sometimes even yellow or red. Moles are simply pigmented cells that form on the skin and generally are completely harmless. However, if you develop new moles in adulthood or existing moles change significantly in shape or color, this could be a sign of melanoma and a doctor should be consulted. This article will address the benign moles that form on your skin naturally and how to remove flat moles if they become bothersome or make you self conscious
Genetics
Racial makeup and skin color are very relevant to whether you will develop flat moles. Races that are lighter complected are more likely to develop moles on their skin. Most moles caused by genetic predisposition will form during childhood and are generally harmless. However, if you notice new moles forming in your 20’s and beyond, they could be a sign of skin cancer and you should consult your doctor.
Hormones
Hormones have the ability to do some crazy things to your body including forming flat moles on your skin. Every person’s body reacts to hormonal fluctuations differently so some people may find new moles forming on their skin during times such as puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause when hormones can become erratic. If a new mole does form in adulthood, however, even if caused by hormonal changes, you should consult your doctor to rule out cancer.
Sunlight
The harsh ultraviolet rays from the sun can alter the makeup of your skin cells which could develop into flat moles. Moles caused by too much sun exposure have a higher likelihood of developing into melanoma so it is very important to protect your skin with proper application of sunscreen when your skin is exposed.
Home Remedies to Remove Flat Moles
Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a gentle acid that will slowly dissolve flat mole cells after about a week of daily application. Wash the mole with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Using a cotton ball, apply the apple cider vinegar to the mole. Leave it on until it dries then wash with water. Repeat this process a few times a day for about a week. The mole will become darker and drier and will scab over. Do not pick the scab. Allow it to fall off naturally to prevent scarring.
Garlic paste
Garlic naturally contains certain enzymes that will break down the cell clusters that form moles as well as reduce the pigmentation of the mole. Using fresh garlic, make it into a paste with either a mortar and pestle or a food processor. Gently cover the mole with the garlic paste and secure it with a bandage, allowing it to sit for a few hours before washing it off. Repeat this process once a day for 5-7 days and the mole will fall off on its own
Onion juice
The acid of an onion will also burn away the skin cells that have formed your flat mole. Grind a fresh onion into a paste, then squeeze the juice from the paste onto a clean soft cloth. Apply the juice directly to the mole and leave it on for 30-40 minutes before washing away. You may have to repeat this process daily for two weeks before the mole dries up and falls off. However, the acidic properties of onion juice work two-fold in that they will also even out your skin tone
A mixture of castor oil and baking soda
Castor oil holds properties that can break down the cells that form moles while baking soda provides the drying agent to quicken the process. Mix a bit of castor oil with a pinch of baking soda and apply to your mole. Secure with a bandage and leave on for a few hours up to overnight. Once it has dried naturally, wash off the paste with warm water. Repeat for about a week and your mole will slowly disappear.
Honey and flax seed oil
Honey has properties that can lighten skin pigmentation while flax seed oil treats skin scarring. A combination of these two can make a flat mole disappear. Mix a bit of honey with a drop of flax seed oil and apply to your mole, leaving it on for an hour and then washing off. Repeat this step daily for about a week and watch your mole slowly fade away. If you do not have flax seed oil, honey alone will have the same result but may take a few days longer.
Skin tags are similar to flat moles in that they are harmless clusters of skin cells that may form from friction or hormonal changes. As such, you can remove skin tags using the same methods listed above for flat mole removal. But there a few other methods for removing skin tags at home.

Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is antiviral and anti-fungal and is very safe for your skin. Wash the skin tag area with soap and water, then gently massage the oil into the skin tag and cover with a bandage. Leave on overnight and repeat for several days. The skin tag will dry out and fall off.
Banana peels
The peel of bananas contains certain properties that will dry out the cells that form skin tags. Secure a piece of banana peel with a bandage to your skin tag area and leave on overnight for a few nights in row until the skin tag dries and falls off.
Vitamin E
Because skin tags can be the result of aging, the antioxidant agents in Vitamin E that also fight wrinkles and promote healthy youthful skin can assist in dissolving skin tags. Simply massage Vitamin E oil onto the affected area and surrounding skin for a few days and the skin tag will disappear.
If you are concerned at all about your skin tags or moles, it is never a bad idea to consult your dermatologist.
