Blue Beard

Blue Beard

The Story Of Bluebeard is very little known and I think one of the reasons is because even the Grimm Brothers could not have turned this horrifying and gruesome tale into something sweet and romantic. This story is less suited for the innocence and colorfulness of children and more suited for a fan of criminal minds. This French fairytale was written by Charles Perrault 1697 and the tale tells the story of a wealthy but violent man in the habit of murdering his wives and the attempts of one wife to avoid the fate of her predecessors. I really encourage you to find out more about this truly intriguing story because while it may not be as popular as Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella , I can guarantee that if you enjoy darkness and horror then this will soon become your favorite story.

jorinda and joringel

jorinda and joringel

Are you more of a romantic type of gal ? Then this story is where you belong. If you're like most you're probably wandering what the heck is this story right ? You've never heard of it. But trust me just like in high school , the good ones are always the unpopular ones. This less-known story published by The Grimm Brothers follows the tale of two lovers Jorinda and Joringel whom were engaged when a shape-shifting evil witch turned Jorinda into a nightingale and locked her in a cage. Of course , Jorinda was not the first girl to meet this fate. The witch was in habit of Kidnapping young and beautiful women and transform them into birds then lock them in cages. Yikes you think a woman like that would have better things to do on a Saturday Night. Of course Joringel being the romantic person he was did not give up and after a very long journey he was reunited with his fiancee and lived a happily ever after. Of course no movie or book had done this amazing tale justice but a girl can dream.

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a Big Bad Wolf. It can be traced back to as early as the 10th century and had been adapted to several movies and books. If you're a sucker for romance and all things gothic then you'd like Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried where the whole story takes a toll on the wolf thing and instead turns into a frightening werewolf terrorizing a village with it's blood thirst as the timeless question stands. Who is the real big bad wolf ? Of course if you like the original better then there are also plenty of other versions. If you got this as an answer then you probably should know that just because we are past the dark ages that does not mean that there aren't wolves lurking in the shadows. The forest may have become a city. And the walks may be taken with cars and buses. But that does not mean that wolves do not exist. They are just less obvious. If I were you , I'd stay away from dark alleys.

Hansel And Gretel

Hansel And Gretel

Candy right ? gotta love it. I mean it's addicting and sweet and it can't harm you right ? WRONG ! And before you ask , no I'm not a dentist. I'm just a person very afraid that you children might fall into the hands of a cannibal and be eaten alive. If you had a childhood then you probably know the famous tale of Hansel and Gretel about the two young siblings kidnapped by a cannibalistic witch living in a forest in a house constructed of cake. I have no idea what sane person would choose two snotty kids over a crap load of candy but I'm not here to criticize this woman. The fairy tale may have originated in the medieval period of the Great Famine (1315–1321)  which caused desperate people to abandon young children to fend for themselves, or even resort to cannibalism. Well they're not gonna get parents of the year award that's for sure. Anyway the moral of this story is to don't trust your parents when they take you out in the woods because you are probably going to get abandoned.

The Frog Prince

The Frog Prince

You know Frogs ? Those little critters in your backyard ? What if I told you they were a dashing prince in disguise ? The Frog Prince is neither popular nor exactly forgotten and Although the story is best known today through the Grimm Brothers' rendition of it, parts of it may extend back until at least Roman times. The story follows a spoiled princess with an interesting hobby of throwing a ball around all day. Wait till she discovers Break Bad on Netflix. She won't even move out of that house for atleast five days. Anyway an enchanted prince helps her retrieve her ball that had fallen into the river in exchange for dining with her , sleeping with her (not like that you pervs) and getting a kiss. While reluctant, at the end she does what she promised and is left with a handsome prince and more money then she could ever imagine. (Not that she wan't rich the first time around.)

Snow White

Snow White

Mirror , mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all ? It's you ! Are you of extraordinary beauty. Probably. Either from the inside , either from the outside or both. But be careful of all those jealous women. If they come around with a freshly baked pie make sure there isn't any apples in it. Snow White is a 19th-century German fairy tale which is today known widely across the Western world. The Brothers Grimm published it in 1812 in the first edition of their collection Grimms' Fairy Tales. Fun fact , did you know this was based upon a true story. Yes , it's not just a tale of fiction. You might be the reincarnation of Margaretha von Waldeck, a German countess born to Philip IV in 1533. The story , while beautifully romantic , ends in tragedy because at the end the prince's kiss did not get her a happily ever after for poor Margaretha but instead got her killed. Let's just hope your romantic life will end a bit better.

Beauty And The Beast

Beauty And The Beast

Beauty and the Beast is a traditional fairy tale written by French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve - This woman will defiantly not find her name written on magnets in a gift shop that's for sure - in 1740. You may not know that it was influenced by some earlier stories, such as "Cupid and Psyche" by Lucius Apuleius Madaurensi in the 2nd century AD. This story , like many others , encourages people to look beyond looks and see the real picture which in this case , is that the dude is a rich prince who owns a freaking castle. All jokes aside this sweet story is well suited to you because you look beyond looks and see the real beauty in everything even the most hideous. Just a piece of advice , when a narcissist has a crush on you please make sure he won't attempt to kill your boyfriend. Thanks. So mademoiselle how does it feel to be the most beautiful girl in town ?

The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen

Let me ask you a question. What if your best friend got kidnapped by a cruel and psychotic woman? Would you go after them ? Of course not. This is real life. But maybe , just maybe , if you're really close you'd take the risk. Did you just get chills ? Yeah , you did. Because you're about to throw down with the Snow Queen. The coolest (no pun intended) villain in fairy tale history since Hades. "The Snow Queen" is an original fairy tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The tale was first published 21 December 1844 in New Fairy Tales. The story centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and Kai , two childhood friends who , let's admit , we were all rooting for to get together by the end of the story. This story really explores the concept of friendship and the extent which you'd go for someone you care about. If you got this that means you probably have/will have soon , a great friend who'd do anything for you.

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is a fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid who is willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul Aww isn't that sweet? Not when you had to get your tongue cut out and have your man leave you for another woman. Regardless of whether the dude is a prince or not , still a pretty jerk move. You are a generally curious person who loves to discover things for themselves at any cost. While the original tale is pretty much more depressing then the Disney one , I think Hans did a rather good job of writing this fantastic tale that you definitely belong in.
