Why we love Portsmouth!

'I like Portsmouth, my family is the most important aspect of it and everyone is within arm’s reach should you need them.

'I think Portsmouth is good for young families, especially in the summer, there’s loads going on and it’s a good place to be surrounded by friends and family because there’s so many activities and events to go to.

'Everything’s accessible around here and that’s incredibly useful.'

'I joined the navy, travelled round the world and stayed in Portsmouth when I got back.

'I love Portsmouth for the convenience of getting on the ferries going to the continent, getting on the trains to go to London.

'Everything close is so you can get to everything which is perfect because I don't drive.  

'So I like that everything's near and in walking distance, and it doesn't cost much to get to places because I can just walk. We like all the parks and everything – the parks are really good, my daughter likes them all.'

'I love Gunwharf. Love the town. Love being close to the beach. All the facilities available to eat at Gunwharf and that.

'The evenings are better to go out and eat, it's nice sitting at Gunwharf over the harbour and that.

'To go out for a meal is much better than sitting in a little pub - it's nice to sit outside and watch the boats go past and everything.'

'I like the history, we’ve got quite a bit of history in Portsmouth. There's all the war stuff, if you go down the front you've got the war boats.

'We used to learn about a lot of it whilst I was at school but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

'Old Portsmouth's just lovely. It's very pretty. But it can be busy with lots of different people.'

'I love the parks for the children are brilliant and the seafront. Places like Baffins pond is just beautiful for barbeques here in the summer and picnics – we're down here nearly every day.

'And look at it: what more could you want? It's just beautiful. I've been in this area nearly all my life and I love it.'
