Tom Buchanan

Tom Buchanan

Congratulations! You received Tom Buchanan! Tom is a socially and morally corrupt human being. You should probably reflect on your decisions and morals if you received this result. Tom is a hypocrite, accusing all West Eggers of being bootleggers of alcohol, looks down upon them, while still consuming alcohol. Not only this, but he also looks down upon other races; he is a white supremacist. Tom also commits adultery by cheating on Daisy with Myrtle, which is and in itself, but he also abuses Myrtle, giving her a bloody nose. He also in a way causes Gatsby's death. He tells Wilson where Gatsby lives, even though he probably has an inkling about what was going to happen. Tom's also a bit rude, isn't he? Tom doesn't attend Gatsby's funeral, which could be understood, but Tom has always grew up with money, and he relies on that to get him through life. He retreats into his money, as Nick put it. So, congratulations! You are a very morally corrupted person such as Tom.

Daisy Buchanan

Daisy Buchanan

Good job! You got Daisy Buchanan. Daisy is a kind of helpless or selfish corruption. Daisy basically kills Gatsby. She knew she was the one who killed Myrtle, yet she did not own up to it, getting Gatsby killed in the process. She values money over anything. She married Tom because he was rich and not Gatsby because he was poor. Daisy has always depended on others to make her choices. Her lack of initiative is shown when Gatsby tells her what to do about Tom. She makes false promises though. She says she'll leave Tom for Gatsby but has never intended to. Daisy's moral corruption is based solely on the fact that she is rich.

Jay Gatsby

Jay Gatsby

Wow! You received Jay Gatsby! Jay Gatsby was corrupted on his way up the social ladder, but his corruption was blindsided by his ambitions. Gatsby's ambition overshadowed his corruption which is shown through his means of obtaining his fortune. He participated in illegal activity to achieve his goals and dreams. Gatsby's morals are overshadowed even when he gets to be with Daisy. He was so focused on being with Daisy that he doesn't realize that Daisy is married, and Gatsby is knowingly cheating with Daisy. Gatsby was so blindsided by his ambition to live a better life when he was younger, that he became rude to his parents. His want for Daisy has driven him to selfishness when he had a sliver of a chance to be with Daisy. He couldn't be content with Daisy loving him, but Gatsby wanted Daisy to love him and only him. You receiving this result shows that you are unwillingly throwing away your morals to achieve your ambitions and goals. Ambition can be good, but ambition and a one track mind can lead to downfall.

Myrtle Wilson

Myrtle Wilson

You are the reincarnation of Myrtle Wilson! Myrtle Wilson has big dreams of achieving high status. She desires status so much that she will do what ever it takes to achieve it, including cheating on her husband. Myrtle craves prestige, which eventually led to her death. Along the way to high social standing, she commits several things that could be considered moral corruption, such and infidelity and lying. Myrtle's moral corruption was solely driven on the fact she craved high social status.

Nick Carraway

Nick Carraway

Nick Carraway. Nick has morals. Nick makes an honest living, trying to sell bonds, unlike Gatsby who achieved his living through illegal means or Daisy and Tom who were born rich. Unlike Myrtle, Nick does not crave status. Nick tries to be honest and a good friend, which is after Gatsby dies. He believes that Gatsby is truly good, and tries to organize a ceremony for him. Nick is one of the least morally corrupt characters in this novel. Congratulations!

Jordan Baker

Jordan Baker

Jordan Baker. Jordan Baker, while not as prevalent as the other characters, still displays bits of moral corruption. Jordan's corruption was due to the fact she wanted success. She does not want to lose, so she cheats to succeed. Not only this, but gossip is something Jordan has a habit of doing. Jordan's moral corruption was based on her desire to win.
