What Kind Of Music Learner Are You?

You will do very well in a traditional or classic method of learning. The classic learner goes through a logical sequence, usually using a method book to learn skills, and gradually increases the level of difficulty. You aren't opposed to practicing on a regular schedule because you realize it will help you get better faster, and that is your ultimate goal. You will love to play the classics, but will also be prepared to play any other style of music that suits your fancy. You will enjoy competitions and participating in regional
festivals and adjudications. You may even walk away with awards if you stick to your practice schedule!

You are influenced by music of your own generation and will enjoy learning more if you can learn to play an instrument or sing the songs that you know and that have meaning for you. You may learn quickly by ear because you listen to music with great detail. If you take the time and make the effort to also learn to read music, the sky is the limit for where you can go with your music.

You have a gift of being able to see someone do something and then be able to do it yourself. You will excel quickly with a teacher who will demonstrate how to play so you can see and hear how it is supposed to sound. You are still very capable of learning to read music, but will probably play with more confidence and enjoy the experience more if you have an example to follow.

You have your own style, and will do best with a teacher who will listen to your specific goals in your learning. You have been inspired by others, but are at a point where you want to make the music yours and not perform just like someone else. Learn the basic skills with vigor and you will be able to apply what you know and create something magical.
