After The Deathly Hallows {only prologue}

~Prologue~

It was just after the battle of hogwarts. Voldemort was vanquished, victory was won, but many innocent lives had been lost. Students cheered in celebration for Harry Potter's victory over Lord Voldemort, but many stayed toward the back of the crowd, silently mourning the personal casualties that the raging battle had brought apon the wizarding world.
Harry Potter himself was digesting both the immense relief of the absence of he-who must not be named and the horrible gut- wrenching grief he felt for the losses of his close friends and guardians. He knew wonderful people like Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin, Fred Weasley and Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore to be deceased thanks to the mercy of Voldemort, who had come near to killing Harry more times then either of them could count.
Harry wiped the blood and sweat and who-knows-what-else from his brow. He glanced around over the crowd of wizards and witches and various magical creatures to find Ginevra Weasley, his girlfriend.
"Harry!" Said Ginny, running toward him. Blood and dirt were heavily matted in her hair, and her clothes were ripped and torn, but to Harry

she had never looked better. "Ginny!" Harry shouted, holding open his arms. Ginny flung herself into him, kissing him like she never had before.
They stood there entwined for what felt like hours. They were so exhilarated to be in eachothers presence, that they didn't really care who was watching.
When they finally broke apart, Harry felt happy, although he also felt like he didn't deserve to. He desperately wished that Sirius was still around to see what he had accomplished.
"I love you." Harry said truthfully to Ginny. "I missed you the whole time we had been fighting... but i knew it was best for you not to get hurt. Why did you have to get yourself involved?" Harry brushed his thumb against her cheek, which had a large, freshly bleeding scratch that looked like it could scar.
Ginny grinned at him mischievously. "I wanted to fight." She said. "For you, for my family, for Hogwarts. Mum always said i was a tough girl. I just chose to believe that, that's all."
Harry smiled. "You sure are a tough girl." he said lovingly.
As they kissed again, transformations were going on around them. Pillars that once belonged to the entrance hall in Hogwarts were being repaired and placed in there correct spaces. Ghosts were wandering around, directing the repairs, despite the constant waving away from the wizards and witches. Bodies were carried out the demolished front doors to be buried or apparated to their family's homes to be

properly buried. Hogwarts was almost completely destructed.
Ron and Hermione stood together in a corner, surrounded by the remaining Weasleys, who were sobbing over the loss of Fred Weasley, their kin.
"I can't believe it." Said Harry suddenly.
"What?" Said Ginny, looking up at Harry.
"There all gone." Choked Harry, not able to contain his grief. "Fred, Sirius, Lupin, Dobby, Dumbledore, Snape, Tonks, Lavender, my- my parents... All thanks to Voldemort and his followers. It's astonishing what one man can do to a soul, or many souls. A single death can lead to the emotional destruction of a whole family. A mere sin can destroy a world. A simple incantation can ruin lives."
Ginny looked down sadly, tears falling down her face, mixed with her blood. "I miss my brother." she whispered softly.
Harry looked at her solemnly. "I miss him too," he said, "But i know it's nothing compared to how your family feels. I spent so much time worrying you or Ron or Hermione were going to... going to... pass on, that it came as a shock when i realized that Fred- that Fred... It was out of the blue... he looked so happy there, so glad Percy had finally made a joke... The last joke Fred would ever hear."
Ginny cried harder into Harry's shoulder. Harry looked down, realizing he shouldn't have spoken. "Oh... Ginny, i'm so sorry... I didn't mean to..."
"No," Choked Ginny."It's - It's fine... H- Harry, i was... i was..."
"What?" Asked Harry gently.
"I was so worried... That you were going to die, Harry..."

"And just the same predicament with me." Harry said, squeezing her tightly.
"Oi!" Ron said, clutching Hermione's hand and walking towards them. "What's happening over here mate?"
"Nothing," Harry blushed. "Just reuniting, that's all."
"Well this is quite a mushy reunion, huh?" Ron said accusingly. Hermione rolled her eyes. "Ron," she said, "Leave them alone, they haven't seen eachother in forever, and i'm pretty sure he deserves it... You saw Harry defeat He Who mus - Lord Vold-emort, he needs a break..." Hermione forcefully dragged Ron away, over to a group of students.
"You know what?" Said Harry, his eyes trailing back to Ginny, "I think we should go join them."
And, holding hands, Harry and Ginny followed the couple.
