10: The Spanish Governor's Palace
Built in the mid 1700’s, The Spanish Governor’s Palace is as old as San Antonio itself, in fact the deaths resulting in it’s hauntings precede even The Battle of The Alamo. Although the site boasts a famous hanging tree, the hauntings are those of two ladies, both found dead in the drinking well: a little noble girl, who’s body, after falling to her death in the well, was entombed in the bulding’s wall, and a maid, who was thrown in the well after being murdered by marauders. The maid is seen walking the halls at night, and the little girl is often caught jumping on the bed.
9: Nat M. Washer Masonic Lodge
Finished construction in 1900, this haunted mansion is well over a century old. It was originally owned by San Antonio’s town physician, who was rumored to be practicing off the books medical procedures in the basement, and was purchased by The Freemasons in the mid 1900’s. The hauntings here are so prevalent, that the Masons has to install motion detectors throughout the house. This way if they here someone crawling around the attic or walking up the basement stares, the detectors will chime if it’s an actual person, and not one of their resident ghosts.

8: The San Antonio Express News Building
Built in 1925 and dedicated during the stock market crash that caused The Great Depression, the Express News Building boasts several aperitions, including a crying man near the elevator, and a gentleman ghost in the printing press room. The Gentleman Ghost May still be longing for a cigarette, seeing as he often appears behind the shoulder of employees enjoying their smoke break.
7: The Menger Hotel
The Menger was at one point called the most haunted hotel in the country, and although it’s paranormal activity has simmered down a bit since the 1960’s, it still undoubtedly makes the top ten list for The Alamo City. It’s most famous ghost is “Miss Sally White” Sally was a maid at the Menger, and after being shot by her husband, walking to the hotel with a bullet wound, and dying in a bed, she’s still seen today, performing her maidly duties.
6: Pat O'Brien's New Orleans Bar
One of only 3 city’s with the little speak easy that became Pat O’Brien’s, San Antonio’s location is the very most haunted. There are no less than four different apparitions calling Pat O’Brien’s their eternal home, including a little boy in the staircase, a jazzy piano playing ghost, a disgruntled ex employee, and a negative entity occupying the upstairs bathrooms.

4: The Hermann Sons Building
Built in 1911 by a German fraternity, often referred to as a secret society, this building boasts the Rathskeller Bar, holding the oldest liquor License in San Antonio, and an abandoned bowling alley, featuring the first automated bowling lanes in Texas. Both are extremely haunted, the most frequent apparition being a helpful spirit lovingly referred to as “Bartender Joe”
3: The Emily Morgan Hotel
Alamo Plaza’s iconic 13 story tower, the Emily Morgan seems to have a secret, and haunting, for every floor. It originated in 1926 as a hospital, and from the gargoyles adorning the exterior of the building to the lobby fireplace, pulling from the original crematorium pilot light, every piece of this haunted tower seems to be tied to a dark and gruesome past.

2: The Alamo
This UNESCO World Heritage Site has seen much more death than the legendary 1836 battle. While the mission was active Native Americans were converted to Catholicism or killed, Jim Bowie would purchase slaves from infamous pirate Jean Lafitte and March them by foot from New Orleans to San Antonio, and tuberculosis killed hundreds. All of these tragedies and more centered around The Alamo; and countless spirits still hold on to this ancient place.

Featured on Ghost Adventures, My Haunting, and more, The Victoria’s Black Swan Inn is so haunted that people travel from all over the world to try and catch a glimpse of the paranormal here. This haunted estate was built on the site of The Battle of Salado, The Dawson Massacre, and Native American sacred ground. It’s home to the ghosts of fallen soldiers, murdered socialites, and a misogynist axe murderer; That’s just to name a few.
