There are long tailbacks on the A690 heading eastbound towards Herrington Interchange (A19 roundabout). This is believed to the caused by a broken down vehicle.

The met office still think the North-East will have some showers and strong winds today.
11.30am: Traffic build up across all bridges in Sunderland
Lunch-time traffic across all Sunderland bridges appear to be heavy today.
The worst effected bridge is Wearmouth Bridge, where some road works are still in place.
Commuters should take extra care and allow for the increase in time on your journey.

Traffic along the Wearmouth Bridge is starting to build in both directions.
